4.6(5 reviews)

The LG WM4000HWA is a 4.5 cu. ft. UltraLarge Capacity front load washer designed for households that want to power through mountains of laundry without sacrificing fabric care. TurboWash 2.0 uses twin high-pressure sprays and 6Motion technology to cut a typical full load down to about 30 minutes, while the Allergiene cycle with steam is NSF-certified to remove common household allergens and dust mites from bedding and baby clothes. The intuitive dial and LED display keep cycle selection simple, and built-in Wi-Fi with the LG ThinQ app lets you start, monitor, or download new cycles right from your phone. ColdWash technology delivers cold-water savings without the usual wash-quality compromise, and the NeveRust stainless drum is built to last. Best for busy families in mid-size to larger homes who want proven reliability, quiet direct-drive operation, and the option to stack with a matching LG dryer in a closet or laundry room.

Great washer, app is hit or miss

We love the washer itself — quiet, efficient, and the cleaning is top tier. The 6Motion technology really does treat different fabrics differently, my wife has noticed her work blouses are lasting longer since we switched. TurboWash is fast, the steam cycles are great for freshening up between washes. My only complaint is the LG ThinQ app is a little finicky — sometimes it takes a few tries to start a cycle remotely, and I have had it lose connection to Wi-Fi twice in 4 months. Not a dealbreaker by any means but the app could be more reliable. The washer itself is a 5 star, the app pulls it down to 4. If you do not care about smart features and just want a great washer, this is a no-brainer.

Best appliance purchase this year

This is hands down the best appliance I have bought in the last 5 years. We run about 8 loads a week between my wife and three teenagers, and the LG WM4000HWA has not missed a beat in 6 months. TurboWash 2.0 with the twin high-pressure sprays is a real time saver — I do not even use the normal cycle anymore. The drum is huge, I can fit a full king-size comforter plus sheets with room to spare. Steam cycles work great for the kids' sports uniforms. The drum cleaning cycle is automatic which is a nice touch. ColdWash actually cleans well in cold water, which has helped with our electric bill. If you are on the fence, just buy it. You will not regret it.

Quietest washer we have owned

We replaced a 12-year-old top-loader with this LG front-loader and I am blown away by how quiet it is. We have it in our hallway closet right next to the bedrooms and we cannot hear it from the master. The TurboWash cycle really does get a full load done in about 30 minutes, which is a lifesaver on weekday mornings with two kids in soccer. The Allergiene steam cycle is fantastic for my daughter's bedding — she has eczema and we have noticed a real difference. Drum is huge, 4.5 cubic feet is more than enough for a family of four. LG ThinQ app is genuinely useful for starting a load from the office. Highly recommend if you are coming from a top-loader and want that bigger capacity without giving up cleaning quality.

Finally a quiet, efficient washer

Our old top-loader was so loud our baby would wake up from naps. This LG is so quiet we sometimes have to check if it is actually running. The drum capacity is generous, we can fit our king-size duvet without cramming, and the Allergiene steam cycle has been a game-changer for my husband's allergies. We use ColdWash most of the time and it really does clean well. The 4.5 cubic feet is a huge step up from our old 4.0 top-loader. The drum self-cleans, the door gasket stays dry between cycles, and we have not had any musty smell issues that front-loaders are famous for. The NeveRust stainless drum should last forever. Worth every dollar we spent.

Great washer, takes getting used to

Bought this from Best Buy in Austin, Texas in spring 2025. First front-loader we have ever owned and the learning curve was real — you have to use HE detergent (which I did not know) and the cycles run longer than my old top-loader. Once I figured it out, the cleaning is fantastic. The steam refresh cycle is amazing for shirts I forgot to put away, and the TurboWash 2.0 actually does cut a full cycle down to about half an hour. Build quality feels solid, the drum is gentle on clothes, and the door gasket has a self-clean reminder which is helpful. The only reason it is 4 stars not 5 is the price — you can find similar capacity from Samsung for a little less. But LG is reliable and the 10-year motor warranty is peace of mind.
